Stop Being a Jerk and Drink a Fruit Beer
The time has come to leave that mentality that depreciates fruit beers and understand once and for all that they are here to stay.
Here are some different options that you can use to make the perfect fruity beer.
Citrus
The ideal beer to combine with citrus flavors is India Pale Ale (IPA) and Pale Ale. The bitterness of these malts combines with the citrus sweetness of fruits such as lime, lemon (coming soon), orange, and tangerine. Good beers that use these ingredients are More Moro Blood Orange IPA (from Funky Buddha Brewery) and Lagunitas Citrusinensis Pale Ale.
The Red Berries
In countries like France and Belgium, it is common to produce beers with this type of fruit during the summer. Blueberry (coming soon), raspberry (coming soon), strawberry, and blackberry are the most commonly used to add sweetness to malt. They tend to have a low alcohol content (5-5.5%), such as the British Samuel Smith Organic Strawberry. Here the Abita Purple Haze — from Louisiana — made of wheat with raspberries.
The Peach Ones
This fruit is especially sweet and useful, especially when adding it to beer. The J Love Child # 5 from Boulevard Brewing Co — from Kansas City — is a powerful peach-containing blend.
At the end of the day, the most exciting thing is being able to share our creations with the rest of the world. What better way to do it than with the variety of purees offered by AFP.
